Just because one community college has a lot of Hong Kong people doesn't mean you are forced to hang out with them, or labeled yourself as "one of them". You don't have to if you don't want to. The two colleges you listed are not the top colleges in LA area regarding "transfer rate to good U". If I can only pick one among these two, I will take Glendale over El Camino, because El Camino is located in a more ghetto area. You should consider Mt. SAC, Pasadena City College, and Santa Monica College. Mt. SAC has great reputation for students transferring to top universities after two years (they have a couple students each other going to Harvard, MIT, and some other Ivy League schools). SMC has great connection with UCLA and USC. Indeed, I know 3 students from SMC and they all end up graduating from UCLA and USC afterward.
